Have you ever noticed that we don’t care about certain things in life until we’re effected by them, including our health? Why is that? Case in point, Michael J. Fox wasn’t an advocate for Parkinson’s Disease until he got it. And the same goes for many others who are affected by illness and other tragedies in their lives. This is the case for cancer, homelessness, racism, LGBTQ, military, domestic abuse, politics, natural disasters, kids, drugs, alcohol, sex trafficking, saving animals, and the list goes on. We’re ALL fighting a cause! Bottom line, the same attention should be applied to your health too. In order to keep fighting YOUR FIGHT, whatever that fight may be, it all begins with your health and wellness!

All the accolades and/or money and success in the world is great, but not if you’re not healthy! I know you’re fully aware of the health risks that are out there, like diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, having a heart attack or stroke, etc… So, I ask, “Why wait to advocate?!?!?”
Lifestyle Change Ambassador for the American Heart Association
Over the past few years, I’ve been barking for people to START to live a healthier lifestyle. Some listen and for some it goes in one ear and out the other. I hope you realize that if you continue down the same path with your unhealthy habits, you’re only going to make things worse for yourself! Plus, there’s no telling as to when your body will get tired and wants to give up on its own. One of the reasons I wanted to lose the weight I’d been carrying around for years, was that I didn’t want to be sitting in some doctor’s office, waiting for bad news. “Well Papa Joe, we’ve got your test results back!” Since the weight loss, I’ve haven’t seen a doctor in over 4 years, other than a physical. I guess you can say, “An apple a day DOES keep the doctor away!”
Now, I realize making a lifestyle change can be tough, but if you start making better choices sooner than later, you will save yourself years of agony and heartache. Don’t even get me started on the savings of medication and medical expenses later down the road! Lastly, think about your friends and family. Think about what they would feel like if something happened to you that you could have prevented, with a healthier lifestyle. So, when the doctor tells you that you have a health related disease, due to an unhealthy lifestyle, do you really want your weight or unhealthy habits to be the reason your life is cut short? Seriously, ask yourself that?!” If you said, “NO!” then I think it’s time to start making some changes.
YES, this COULD all happen… but I guess there’s no need to worry about it, until happens to YOU!
